And the Winner is…

As you know, I was having trouble deciding on a name for my business. This had gone on for a long time when I finally decided to ask my peers for advice. So last week, I posted a poll with my top seven ideas.

As you know, I was having trouble deciding on a name for my business. This had gone on for a long time when I finally decided to ask my peers for advice. So last week, I posted a poll with my top seven ideas. Many of you voted for the top name and I want to thank you for that. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read my posts and vote.

Before I announce the winning name, I want to provide a little history. I have worked in the fields of organization development, learning and performance, and HR for over 25 years now. I started consulting when I was in college and continued throughout my career. In fact, half of my career has been in consulting and the other half working within an organization. After leaving my previous company, there were some people who came to me asking for help with specific challenges. I started thinking about forming a company again and though of a name after about an hour of brain storming and research. The ironic part is that it ended up being the winning name.

So, what name did you select? Well, the winner of the poll was Partners4Performance. As you can see below, it received 52% of the votes. I will be developing marketing materials and asking you about designs over the next few days.

Once again, thank you to everyone that helped me decide on a name for my consulting practice. If there is any way I can help you, let me know.

The one topic I continue to struggle with is the name of the business. I have included a poll in this post and would greatly appreciate you voting for the name you like the best for my practice.

I want to start this post with a big “thank you” to all the wonderful people I talked with. The advice provided really helped me hone my mission and strategies. It just goes to show how much better things are when you involve others.

The one topic I continue to struggle with is the name of the business. I have included a poll in this post and would greatly appreciate you voting for the name you like the best for my practice. You can also add comments if there is something you like better. I may repeat the pole with the top three responses and include any new names you submit.

To remind you, I am helping organizations gain better employee performance and engagement. I have a huge need to see people enjoy work more and help organizations become more successful through their people. When people are engaged, they perform better and enjoy their work more. What a win-win!

Thank you for helping me! I hope to have a name picked by Monday of next week. We’ll see how that goes…

Yesterday I talked about how I’m starting a consulting practice and want to include you in this process. Today I want to provide a little information on the focus of the consulting company and get your ideas for a business name.

Yesterday I talked about how I’m starting a consulting practice and want to include you in this process. Today I want to provide a little information on the focus of the consulting company and get your ideas for a business name.

I have attached an Excel document (the link is below) that has my current purpose statement and some possible company names. The purpose statement is a work in progress and will evolve as I get feedback from you and my initial clients.

Right now, the hardest part is naming the company. I categorized the list of names on the spreadsheet to make it easier to review. However, you may think of a name that is not on the list. Feel free to contribute your thoughts no matter what they are. My intent is to have a name that is catchy and professional. I want to steer clear of trendy names and have something anyone can understand, not just people in HR, Training, or Organization Development. And, (the huge challenge these days) I need to have an associated web address (URL) that makes sense and is not so similar to another that if people mistype it they end up on a site I would rather not send them to.

So this is where I am now. I would greatly appreciate your help with the purpose statement and in narrowing the list of names. Please leave a comment or email me at msabbag3@gmail.com. In my next post, I will have a summary of the feedback I receive and where I am with my business plan. Thank you for your support in my endeavor!

New Company Names

Starting a business

Although I have consulted for the past year (and for over half of my career), I am now “formally” starting a consulting practice. Yes, I’m jumping in with both feet. My first focus will be on helping organizations gain exemplary performing and highly engaged people. Over the coming weeks, I will be going through all the activities and challenges that come with starting a business. I want to take you on my journey and let you know all I am going through.

More importantly, I want to get your thoughts and suggestions. I guess you can say I am croudsourcing my consulting practice because what you contribute will help me make many decisions. As the days go on, I will be sharing what I am doing and asking for your advice. Please take a second to respond in the comments section, vote on a pole, or even contact me directly. My email address is msabbag3@gmail.com. With your help, I am sure this will go well.

Tomorrow, I will have a statement about the specific area of focus for my business and possible names. I will need your advice on the naming thing. I have thought about that for a while and have asked some trusted colleagues for their input but nothing is sticking. It’s amazing how hard it is to come up with a name.

Also, let me know what you think of the new look for my blog. Thank you for tuning in. I hope to hear from you soon!
