It’s been an interesting couple of weeks since my last post. As you know, I now have a name for my business (thanks to my awesome followers). I have recently worked on a couple of things that I want to share.
Since getting a name, I was able to get marketing materials finalized (business cards, branding, a template for proposals, etc.). This work went a lot faster than selecting a name. In designing a logo, I wanted something that would represent my brand. It needed to communicate improvement, people, and be bold and cutting-edge without being totally out there. I had a logo from the two other consulting organizations but looked at doing something different. In the end, I decided to update what I had used in the past to make it more modern and eye-catching. I would love to hear what you think of it!
The second thing I have worked on is my strategic plan. I started with a mission statement out of necessity. When people asked me what Partners4Performance was, I wanted to have a consistent message that reflected my long-term desires. I supplemented this with an explanation of my purpose and focus. I also thought through who my target market would be and conducted research on performance improvement consulting organizations to see if I was just another person doing the same thing or if I truly had something that was unique and valuable. All of this is still evolving as I learn more about the specific needs of my prospective partners and the work they actually need done.
While thinking these things through, I found a tool that would help me start faster. It is a strategy canvass and is really a one-page living business plan. I am using this tool and will post my business plan as soon as it is about 65 to 70 percent done. Your feedback will help me get it further.
Finally, I continue to reach out to contacts and learn about their organizations, what they are doing, and what they think of Partners4Performance. These conversations have been incredibly rewarding. Everyone I have talked with has helped me think thing through at a deeper level. I am totally focused on delivering value and with continued feedback, will be able to create the most valuable performance improvement products and services available.
As always, I would love to get your comments. All the best!
